engineer training

As previously mentioned, we believe passionately in investing in our people and, to reinforce our sense of value towards them, we offer a range of learning and development opportunities, as follows:

product training

All of our engineers are required to participate in the product-specific training that is a requirement for our ongoing status as an approved ‘System Installer’ for HellermanTyton, Leviton and Excel, which also provides the necessary skills to perform full Category 6 certification testing using Fluke testers.

fibre optic training

Our Senior Installers are also trained to terminate and test fibre optic cables, including the use of OTDR testers where required.

first aid training

Our Senior Installers are also required to participate in First Aid training.

Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)

Seen as the industry standard for all supervisors working on building sites, this course provides our Senior Installers with a heightened understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, whilst also highlighting legal responsibilities and the need to promote good health and safety practices.

International Powered Access Federation (IPAF)

Once again, our Senior Installers are all required to participate in this training, which entitles them to a Powered Access License (PAL) card for the operation of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP).

Prefabricated Access Suppliers' & Manufacturers' Association (PASMA)

All engineers are required to participate in this training, which is essentially for them to be qualified to assemble and use what are more commonly known as scaffold towers.

Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS)
& Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS)

All our engineers will hold one or the other of these cards to endorse that they have the requisite skills to access and work on building sites.

human focus e-learning

All of our personnel, not just our site engineers, are required to periodically complete a number of web-based training programmes, comprising:

city and guilds

Financed by the company, many of our engineers have already obtained a number of C&G qualifications, with others seeking to do the same at the earliest opportunity.

apprenticeships

NBC are currently running an apprenticeship scheme for some of our engineers and looking forward to doing likewise for others in the future.

interpersonal training

Developed and/or delivered internally, we offer two further training programmes, aimed specifically at enhancing our people’s relationship skills, both with customers and colleagues:
